In the 1960s, Hollywood movie studios saw the growing popularity of ‘art films’ and attempted to capitalize on the trend.

Independent divisions were set up in major Hollywood studios which quickly co-opted the low/no-budget art film and transformed it into what is now known as the independent film. Today’s independent film is nothing more than a corporate Hollywood film masquerading as art with mainstream actors and big budgets.

American films streams true independent films, music videos and video art. Films that we think possess authentic artistic, intellectual and cultural value.

While we focus mostly on films made in the United States, we often feature foreign films.

We attempt to showcase a balance of old and contemporary works.
